Security at the Convention Site
In previous years, security has been an issue for attendees at Arcanacon. In particular, there have been instances of theft and property damage at past Arcanacons. While this is not common, we advise that attendees take the following steps to help ensure their own security on site:
- Leave no valuables in your car. This includes cases of miniatures; even if a thief can't sell the miniatures, he won't know that because all he's going to see in the car is a case.
- Lock your car.
- If you spot valuables in a car near the convention site, or a car that is unlocked and unattended, please inform the organisers (preferably noting make, model, colour and registration number).
- Do not leave valuables unattended at the convention. Even though we like to believe that our fellow gamers can be trusted, it is not possible to ensure that only registered convention attendees enter the site, so please do not give unauthorised people the chance to rob you before we find them and remove them from the convention.
- If you find unattended valuables on the convention site, please inform an organiser or hand the items in to an organiser.
- When playing in events, try to place your bags in a common area out of the way of play away from the door.
- Ask the organisers to arrange for large, valuable items - such as sound systems, game props or accessories or boardgames - to be placed in a secure area until required for your event. If the item is not for use in an event, don't bring it at all unless you have good reason to require it. (The organisers cannot be putting items in and out of secure storage all the time, and cannot guarantee absolute security.)
- If you see anybody not wearing a convention badge on site, please tell the organisers so that we can arrange to remove that person from the site.
- If you note anything you find worrying or suspicious, please pass this information on to an organiser.
