A Bridge Too Far

A Firestorm Flames of War tournament.

Organised by Django Upton

Flames of War is an easy, fun and popular set of miniatures rules. Players control a company sized force of World War Two troops in battle using 15mm scale miniatures.

The rules used will be Flames of War Second Edition including any updates and errata listed at www.flamesofwar.com and the “Operation Market Garden” Firestorm rules modified for tournament use.

Play will consist of five rounds of up to 2 1/2 hours, three rounds on Saturday January 22 and two on Sunday January 23.

Players will use fully painted 15mm scale Late War forces, one list of up to 1500 points and a second list of up to 1200 points from any one official FOW 2nd edition intelligence briefing. Air support may not be included nor any “Big Cats” as these units are represented by the Firestorm troops. Only armies from the Hells Highway and Bridge Too Far books will be eligible for the best army trophy. Players who can help by providing units of Firestorm troops should contact the organiser.

Players will be divided into two equal groups of Allied and Axis. Players are encouraged to submit an alternative set of lists of the opposing side to make it easier to make the groups even. Players doing so will be contacted before the tournament to indicate which army to bring. If necessary the organiser will play byes.

The draw will be by allied verses axis pairings based on accumulated game VP with initiative being rolled between the paired players, lowest scores first. Battle arrows will be resolved in the order placed.

Missions played will be randomly chosen from the Firestorm mission generator for each pair of opponents.

Players shall score Campaign VP for any battle they win that increases the VP for their side and one fifth of the total Campaign VP their side has at the end of the tournament.

Scoring will be by Game VP for Best Allied and Best Axis, Campaign VP for Best General and Player Vote for Best Army. If there is a tie players who supplied Firestorm units add one VP per unit as a tiebreak.

Trophies will be awarded to the Best Allied, Best Axis, Best General and Best Army.

Army lists are to be emailed to the organiser by Friday January 14, 2011.

The organiser can be contacted by email at django@alphalink.com.au, by phone on (03) 9383 4951 or by post at 26 Henty Street, Brunswick, VIC 3056.
