The Line

“… It was once said that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, and what we face here today is a choice which may determine the fate of all mankind. But that is no reason to betray who we are, as our ideals are what separates us from those we fight and to remove that line is a slippery slope.

“Some of you have already lost family and friends and we have all lost a teammate to this terrible threat. But we must all put aside our personal feelings today as the choice we have to make goes beyond us. It's a choice between what we have the right and responsibility to do and not to do, whether we have the right to end one life now to potentially save many later.

“Some people have questioned what gives us the right to do what we do. We are not elected by the people, instead we do it because we are the only ones who can. The choice we face here today could change everything, but it's a choice we have to make …”
