When and Where

Arcanacon XXX will be held at Collingwood College, Hoddle St, not quite opposite the Collingwood Town Hall (Melways 2C, G9). It is close to Collingwood Station and Johnston St, and effectively on Hoddle St.

The con starts on Thursday 26th of January and runs for 4 days. Please note that the Thursday is a public holiday, but the Friday is not.

Festivities begin at 2pm on the Thursday and continue until prizegiving at 7.30pm on the Sunday, in the process cramming in 13 sessions of roleplaying, wargames, boardgames and more.

Convention Timetable

Registration starts from 2pm Thursday, and the first roleplaying sessions are from 4:05pm Thursday. From then onwards, tournaments are run in 3 hour sessions, with events generally expected to run for around 2.5 hours within each session (with the remainder being devoted to set-up, pack-up, admin, late players, miscellaneous delays, etc). Thursday has sessions at 4:05pm and 8pm. Friday and Saturday each have sessions at 9am, 12:55pm, 4:05pm and 8pm, and Sunday has sessions at 9am, 12:55pm and 4:05pm, and prizegiving from 7:30pm onward.

Note that this timetable differs slightly from previous years. The beginning and ends of the two middle sessions of each day have been shifted slightly to provide a short break in between (hopefully just enough time to get from one event to the next, perhaps grabbing a coffee or snack from the canteen along the way).

The convention doors open at 2pm on Thursday and 8:30 am each other day. Cashing in on the long summer day, we're giving you almost an hour for lunch and almost an hour for tea, and then taking advantage of balmy nighttime to run the convention until 11pm.

Arcanacon closes on Sunday evening with the Awards Ceremony, closely followed by the Post Con Do.
