Announcing the Sixth Annual ArcanAuction

Recover space in your bookcase, and fund more aquisitions!

This year the ArcanAuction will be held during lunchtime on Sunday 29th, starting at 12:10pm.

The auction is open to everyone who is registered at the convention. You are welcome to bring and sell more or less anything, so long as it is game and geek related1.

This is how it works:

Starting on Thursday, we will display all the auction lots near to the rego desk. We recommend you display your wares as early as possible, so you can generate some interest.

We will accept items for sale right up to the start of the auction.

Please take an auction envelope from the rego desk, complete your details, and securely attach it to the item so that people can read the reserve (minimum) price. You can also set a "Buy-it-Now" price that people can pay if they want to purchase before the auction. "Buy it Now" prices are a good idea: some people may want to buy your stuff, but might not stay 'til Sunday.

There are two more things you must do:

  1. If there is anything wrong with the item, you must state the problem clearly on the slip. This could be a coffee stain on page 82, a missing rulebook, or your remote-control R2D2 might not work at all. Whatever the case, be honest! Our skilled auctioneer will still extort maximum returns on your behalf.
  2. Please make bundles of related items. If we have to sell many lots, one at a time, the auction will take hours. Therefore make sets of items to be sold together in bundles. i.e. Put all your AD&D 2nd Ed books together in Bundle 1, all your old Doctor Who books in Bundle 2, and your die-cast robot can be Bundle 3.

Easy enough? If you're not sure, check with us on the day.

After it's all over and everything has been settled, just come to rego to pick up your cash in the envelope. Any items that are unsold will be returned to the owner.

Any money or items left at the end of the con must be picked up; Arcanacon does not have the facilities to return or store your things, nor can we arrange for a later payment.

Please Note: Arcanacon does not take any of the money raised; it all goes to the original owner. If someone does really well, please consider a contribution to Red Cross Australia; there will be collection tins at Registration.

    • No pets or people.
    • No services may be auctioned.

    • No food or drink.
    • Original software, videos and DVDs only.
