General Information
Arcanacon XVI will be held at Collingwood College,
corner of Cromwell St and McCutcheon Way,
Collingwood, Melbourne. (Melways 2C, G9)
The convention begins at 1.00 PM on Thursday 2nd
July. When you arrive, go to the registration desk
where our friendly staff will hand you your
convention badge, program book and personalised
timetable. At this stage, you will find out about any
new events or activities that have been added to the
Convention. Next, confirm your schedule with the
organisers of the various games. If you enter any
additional games, arrange times to play them now. If
you sent in your entry after the late fee date, you
will need to do all your timetabling when you arrive
at the Con.
"What is Arcanacon?"
Arcanacon is a roleplaying games convention which
has been running since 1983. Arcanacon provides a
venue for roleplayers of all ages to gather and enjoy
a wide variety of games.
Attractions at Arcanacon include tournaments in
many different genres, ranging from traditional
"round the table" games and trading card
games, to the more mobile, "freeform" style
games. Trophies and/or prize certificates are awarded
to winners in most tournaments.
Come along to the convention to try new styles of
games, play old favourites and give yourself the
opportunity to meet likeminded, fun-loving gamers!
Visitors
Visitors are welcome. There is a $2.00 per day
entry charge. If you wish to enter any tournaments
you must register as a player. Visitors do not need
to pre-register.
Tournaments
- extra details
Places are limited in all tournaments. Most are
booked out before the Convention begins, so enter
early to avoid missing out on the events you really
want to play.
There will be 13 timetabled sessions during the
Convention. Times for these are indicated in the
entry form. Please do not enter more than 11 sessions
unless you can organise an out of hours session. It
is important that you check your session times, even
during the Con., as we are not responsible for missed
sessions.
Thursdays playing sessions are at 2 and 5pm.
On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the doors open at
8.30am. The last sessions on Friday and Saturday
finish at 9.30 pm. On Sunday, the final session
finishes at 6.30pm, and is followed by an Awards
Ceremony.
Tournaments may be entered during the Convention
if places and session times are available.
Please note that final confirmation of entry into
tournaments and times of play will not be available
until the convention begins. All tournaments are
subject to variation without notice.
GMs
We still need additional GMs for some tournaments.
Anyone interested in helping should contact the
organisers as soon as possible. Full-time GMs (ie
GMing 7 or more sessions) do not pay any registration
fee. Part-time GMs do not pay a registration fee
unless they are also playing tournaments. All GMs
must pay the relevant fees for any tournaments they
play.
The Small Print: ARCANACON is run by Random
Inc, a non-profit incorporated organisation. All
time, effort, blood, sweat, cardboard umbrellas,
elephants foot umbrella stands, wooden legs and
gold lipstick holders are voluntarily donated.
