Dance of the Small Gods

CORUM

A CORUM adventure written by Geoff Gillan
Proudly sponsored by
Chaosium Inc.

Presented by Richard Watts, Liam Routt and Divers Hands

Orange and puple mists swirl and part
The scent of spice and flame fills your head
Your ears echo with myriad of sounds, crisp, harsh and new
This is indeed a new place

Dance of the Small Gods is an adventure for four heroic souls in a single session. This is a world-premiere event for the new Elric! supplement, CORUM. Places are strictly limited.

Corum, a Frince of the Vadhagh (a race not unlike the Melniboneans in advancement and culture) is the hero in a strange series of conflicts against the Mabden people and their gods, the Sword Rulers, Lords of Chaos. He is, like Elric in the Young Kingdoms, an incarnation of the Eternal Champion. His adventures and world provide the background for a new supplement for the Elric! game system. The supplement details the world of the Million Spheres, its people and its magics. CORUM is written by talented Wollongong author Geoff Gillan (whose previous Chaosium credits include scenarios for Pendragon, Elric!, and Call of Cthulhu, including Horror on the Orient Express) and illustrated by local artists. It is the latest book in Chaosium's re-awakened Elric! line (expected publication in June/July).

Dark Cluster

AD&D

Spinning in the void, the myriad worlds of the Peleponesean Cluster sparkle like diamonds laid on richest velvet. At the heart of all lies Athens, the mighty city state, grown rich on the tribute of Her client planetoids, the loyal members of the Delian league. In Her pride, Athens has sought to bring all of Cluster under Her mantle. Now She is supporting the land claims of the city state Corcyra over those of the Spartan ally Corinth.

This insult has finally roused the Spartans from their self-imposed isolation. The Spartans are soldier fanatics, trained from childhood to seek glorious death in the service of the State. Keeping down a slave population ten times their number through superior skill in arms, the Spartans are still as terrifying as when they held the Dragon Gate at Thermopylae.

As the last of the winter snows melt from the hills of a thousand worldlets, all of Cluster holds its breath. The Spartans prepare to march, and on land there are none who can stand before them. Meanwhile, the Athenian navy takes to the skies, and in the depths of space they rule supreme.

In the shadow of war, things begin to go astray. Strange new religions are heard of: the Cult of the Promise, and the Cult of the Offering, that owe no allegiance to the true gods. There is News of dark, evil weapons developed by both Athens and Sparta. Rumours fly of a cancer growing in the temple island of Delos, the spiritual heart of the League.

All this seems far from your Court at Syrinos, a tiny agricultural world lying on the rim, between Cluster and the Great Void. And yet Syrinos is a member of the Delian league, and is required to send assistance for a war it wants no part of. Who will make the journey to Athens? Will the King and his Counsels go? Or will they send whatever misfits have insufficient power at court to resist the royal suggestion? And what of the strange talking sea monster that fell in fire from the sky a twelve night past, with its wild story that the War is but a reflection of an old, dark evil newly woken?

An 3-session AD&D adventure for 5 or 6 players: a mixed assortment of five humanoids and one young, idealistic, vegetarian Illythiad.

By Chris Betts and Scott Thomson

Far From Glory

Werewolf

"Your evidence of Pentex involvement is non-existent, your evaluation of the current situation is flawed and your thoughts of what may happen irrelevant. I will not bring this before council just on your word. It will have to wait until the end of the month at the regular meeting."

"But that will be too late..."

"You have my decision on the matter. This discourse is over."

"Fine."

"Oh, and by the way, I place a ban on you from acting further into this matter until the council has decided its course of action."

Far From Glory is a single session Werewolf for 4 characters, who won’t be playing by the rules.

By Nigel Cunningham and Josh Orth.

HELLDORADO

Deadlands

Garry "Hex Files" Fay and Lyn "Calamity" James

The story so far…

In the shadowed heart of Broken Crow Canyon, the creatures of the darkness gather, summoned forth from their shadowy lairs by an unknown force demanding freedom and revenge. They are called to the hunt and are powerless to resist. Like a plague of demonic locusts, they sweep across the barren plain, killing and devouring everything in their path.

Meanwhile, in the small community of Quentin, Wyoming, the tattered remnants of a travelling carney limp weakly into town, a blood streaked sunset snapping at their heels and the wails of the restless dead howling at their backs. In their midst rolls a squat, black-walled wagon adorned with strange sigils. From within its mysterious interior pulsates a pale, ghostly light.

Welcome to the Weird West!

The Cast…

Payton Coburn - Former saloon sweetheart turned bounty hunter who knows more than one way to get her man - undead or alive.

Benedict Spade - A down-on-his-luck gambler with a heck of a lot more up his finely tailored sleeve than a spare ace and a silver-bladed bowie knife.

Kid Macbeth - Reckless but eloquent young gunslinger with a quick tongue, a smart mouth, and a hankerin’ for the written works of "Wild" Billy Shakespeare.

Crucifixion Jones - A mean-spirited, brimstone slingin', Winchester packin', one-eyed preacher man tormented by the demons of the bottle and tempted by the demons of the flesh.

HELLDORADO is a single session, introductory Deadlands adventure for four hastily deputised lawmen sworn to uphold justice and protect the innocent while the rest of the townsfolk pack up their belongings and hightail it up into the hills.

NOTE: Familiarity with the movies El Dorado and Rio Bravo is not necessary for the enjoyment of this adventure but is recommended anyway!

In Memory Yet Green

A "Classic" Call of Cthulhu Scenario in 3 parts

by Marion Anderson, Phil Anderson, Mark Morrison, & Russell Waters, with additional bad ideas from Richard Watts and Phil Keast

New York, Thursday, September 6th 1923; an otherwise ordinary day, except for an unexpected but welcome note in the mail - on pink paper in a scented envelope:

"Hi,

Long time no see! I've been so busy, what with work and everything, you know how it is. Anyway, I'd love to see you. There's three other friends of mine I've also been meaning to catch up with, so I've hit upon the perfect solution - I'm inviting you all to dinner! You'll really like them. Friday night at 7, see you then!

Love,

Rebecca

ps: I'll be unveiling a new treasure - so you really must come!"

A four player tournament, originally presented at Arcanacon 1987. Characters are to be partly generated and personalised by the players during the first session.

If you have played it before, please tell your GM.

"…just like any other rescue mission"

Heavy Gear

Sous-Sergeant Henri Anjou stifled a yawn and gripped his joysticks tighter, hoping the discomfort would keep him awake. So far, the mission had gone as planned. Meet up with the two troop transports they were to escort and then head North into the Badlands. Right now his Cadre was proceeding along the Westridge Range, and should soon cross the Maglev line. There were no known Northern forces in the area, Henri had been told during his Personal Brief.

As if reading his mind, blips suddenly appeared on his radar and activated Warning readouts across his Virtual Battlefield view. The blips were stationary, metallic and not responding on the IFF transponder. Could be another merchant caravan,. the Sous-Sergeant wondered, but this was a sensitive mission. "Caiman, Crocodile, go hull down. Kefferd, engage silent running and take a peek."

He watched as Kefferd's Iguana broke off and began slowly climbing the dune. He watched as the Iguana reached the crest. He was too shocked to gasp as a Fireball anti-armour missile blew the Iguana apart a split-second later. He could only watch as the blips surged towards him.

This is a Single session, 4-5 player Heavy Gear scenario involving a Cadre of tired Southern Gear Pilots. Emphasis has been placed on Setting knowledge, not Rules knowledge. Some adult concepts are involved - players under 15 should avoid this Tournament Scenario.

Rules Knowledge: 1 (Setting Knowledge 3!!!). Adult Content: As above (2-3) Characterisation & Seriousness: 4

Supernatural Solicitings

Systemless

by Amanda Collins

Magic is dying. The Arts of the Earth are being driven out, by a King who does not know what power he renounces, supported by Thanes who understand nothing but their own lusts and greeds.

At the Gathering of Witches, Hecate speaks:

"Sisters, action must be taken. We cannot allow this ignorant Duncan to destroy the Earth and all its beauty. He erodes our powers even as we meet here, and must be stopped. There are so few Thanes worthy of our support, and so we have an imperfect task ahead. Andora, Medena, and Futura of Glamis, come forward. The Earth Magic’s hereafter falls to you and your young Thane. Embolden him, fill him with the same dreams and desires of the truly Earth-loving as his father was. Macbeth must be our hope."

The three country witches return to their coven, awed by the task set them. This is no healing of the flesh, but a healing of the rift between the Earth Arts and the Sword. How best to proceed? No scrying glass can tell...

This will be stuff of legends.

"Fair is foul and foul is fair..."

Amanda Collins and her band of merry GMs invite you to enjoy this single session "what-if?" scenario, completely without published system or deference to history, for four players (three witches and a familiar).

The Fate of Fools

White Wolf Storyteller or AD&D

GM: It's a nice day

PC#1: He's very tall

PC#2: So this is it! We're going to die!

Sounds confusing? It should!

You have just woken up with the mother of all hangovers, and the faint recollection that you have a friend that needs help, which is a bit of a problem, given that you can't even remember your own names!

However, you have the feeling that today, everything's going to fall into place.

Everything!

A pretty much multi-system scenario for 2-4 players (i.e. It can be run just as easily for the White Wolf Storyteller system as it can for TSR's AD&D 2nd Edition, and some others. Players' Choice!)
