"It is not because of anything that can be seen or heard or handled, but because of something that is imagined. The place is not good for the imagination, and does not bring restful dreams at night."

--- 'The Colour Out of Space' by H. P. Lovecraft ---

"Yesterday, several high profile patients were assigned by the Registrar into my care. After reviewing the police reports for each patient and a brief period of group interaction and observation, they appear to have shared a traumatic experience that has severely affected their higher level cognitive functions.

"It is my recommendation that the patients, after they adjust to their new environment, undertake group-based treatment focussed on:

  • Targeting each patient's individual psychological issues;
  • Re-creating the circumstances leading up to the event that traumatised the group within a structured, supportive framework;
  • Using a range of psychological techniques and treatments, identify the specifics of the traumatic event; and
  • Using group-based therapies to resolve the trauma.

"I believe this group-based therapeutic approach has the best chance of aiding the patients in their recovery, assisting both law enforcement in establishing what occurred, and restoring each patient to a functional state in order to transition back into society."
