What is Pathfinder Society?
You are a member of The Pathfinder Society [2], an organisation of explorers and treasure hunters, documenting history and cultures, recovering relics from lost ruins etc.
Pathfinder Society is a series of four-hour adventures played using the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Core Rulebook [3] and the free Guide to Pathfinder Society Organised Play V2.0 [4].
Players needing assistance converting their Season 0 (D&D 3.5 Edition) characters across to Season 1 (Pathfinder RPG) should consult the free Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Conversion Guide [5].
New players are encouraged to build 1st level characters, however pregenerated characters are available for players unfamiliar with the rules or anyone who arrives unprepared.
The Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Core Rulebook is available from specialist game and hobby stores. The Core Rulebook PDF can also be purchased from the Paizo website for US$9.99 [3], or you can visit the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Reference Document [6], a free web-based reference for the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game.
For every three scenarios played, your character gains a new level, and you can progress your character over the course of many adventures at many different conventions and events run by the Pathfinder Society.
Certain character Traits, Feats, Equipment, Spells, Prestige Classes etc published in other Pathfinder sourcebooks may be available choices for your Pathfinder Society character - please consult Chapter 13 of the Guide to Organsied Play [4]. Players using rules from other Pathfinder sourcebooks for their characters MUST bring a copy of the sourcebook with them for the Games Master to reference for that item to be allowed during play.
There's also wealth of information regarding Pathfinder Roleplaying Game and Pathfinder Society Organsied Play at the Paizo website.
While every attempt will be made to group players at tables appropriate
to their character level, players with current characters above 3rd
level are strongly encouraged to bring along 1st level characters as a
second choice for situations where a table of your preferred level isn't
available for a session you're wanting to play.
