Arcanacon

Second-hand Roleplaying Book Auction

Got a whole heap of roleplaying material you don't want any more? Can't really find a way to get rid of it? Or looking for that out of print supplement and think that someone has to have it?

Arcanacon is hoping that we have the answer. During Saturday lunchtime (12.30pm), we're going to be hosting a 2nd hand auction. It's open to anyone that wants to bring their stuff along and try to flog it off at the con.

How does it work?

If we have to auction off everyone's books one at a time, it'll take forever, so the plan is that we ask people to bundle their books in a sensible fashion - perhaps bundling up all the books for one system together, or bundling the base rulebooks in one lump and everything else together. Bundles will be auctioned off from largest bundle to smallest, and we'll only have a limited amount of time, so it's in your best interest to bundle them as large as practical. Ideally, books will be bundled so that the titles are still visible, but so that they can't be easily seperated - we recommend string.

We'll have a display table available in the main rego area before the auction, so you can show off your wares and hopefully generate some interest.

Each bundle will have a reserve price set by the owner, and any bidding will start at that point. All monies will be paid to the owners - Arcanacon is just providing the forum by which this exchange can happen.

Any items that are not auctioned off due to time or no bid will either be returned to the owner, or displayed on a table at registration and sold at their reserve price (whichever the owner prefers). Any money from sales, and items left at the end of the con must be picked up by the owners - Arcanacon does not have the facilities to return the items to the owners nor store them after the convention, nor can we arrange for a later payment.

What can I sell?

Primarily, we're only looking for people wanting to sell roleplaying material. A certain amount of leeway will be provided for novels that are part of a roleplaying world, but boardgames, cardgames, etc are not permitted. If things work out this year, we might be able to expand the range of items in future years, but for 2007, we want to limit the scope of the auction.

If you're superkeen, print out the auction slip and you can be ready to rock as soon as you bring your stuff in.
