National Open: Warmachine & Hordes
Saturday January 26th - Sunday January 27th
The National Open is a two-day tournament for Warmachine and Hordes. This is a official Nationals series event, and will be used to determine the Australian champion for 2008.
Format:
The tournament will use the current Steamroller format, which is v3.0 at time of writing.
If Steamroller v4 is released before December 1st, the new format will be used at this event. All pre-registered players will be notified by email if a new format is to be adopted.
Tournament files:
- Tournament pack (including scoring rules and scenarios)
- Standard terrain layout maps
Army lists:
Players may bring two different army lists for each day of competition, provided that all lists are from the same Warmachine or Hordes faction.
Players must supply two legible copies of each army list. One is to be lodged with the Tournament Organisers before round 1 begins. The second copy must be shown to your opponent before starting play.
Timetable:
Please arrive by 9:00am on the first day of play, as judges will need to check all army list copies. The first game is expected to start around 10am.
Tables and terrain will be available for casual gaming after each day's tournament rounds have been completed.
Day 1 (Saturday January 26th)
Three rounds of play, using 500 point armies.
Day 2 (Sunday January 27th)
Three rounds of play, using 750 point armies.
Army painting:
Two prizes will be available for army painting. Painting has no impact on your tournament score, as final placings are determined by tournament points (following the process described in the tournament pack).
Best Painted Army will be determined by the Tournament Organisers.
Additionally, all players fielding fully painted armies will receive a ticket for the Painting Raffle prize, to be drawn at the prize ceremony.
Conversions and proxy miniatures:
Under the Steamroller rules, all miniatures used at the event must be based on Privateer Press figures from the Warmachine, Hordes and Iron Kingdoms ranges. If you intend to use converted figures that are significantly different to the 'stock' models, please contact the Tournament Organiser before the tournament to check whether these are tournament legal.
Sportsmanship:
All players are expected to play in a fair and reasonable fashion. Unacceptable conduct, as determined by a Tournament Organiser, will result in the offending player receiving a yellow or red card. Yellow cards (maximum of two) result in a 10% penalty to your tournament score. Red cards result in automatic disqualification.
Prizes:
Grand Champion: 'Jackhammer' Nationals Trophy, from Privateer Press. A hardcover copy of Hordes:Evolution, signed by the Privateer Press staff. $150 prize voucher from Infinity Games. Resin scenic base set, containing 30, 40 and 50mm bases.
