Imperial Front V (40K)

from those Tank Freaks from Shepparton

"The charge of the Armoured brigade"

A broken moment in time.

Below; a gentle breeze momentarily clears the haze of promethium from the air and ruffles the golden fez of the lone figure standing silently in the middle of the deserted square.

Above; the contrails of the orbiting aircraft trace complex, interwoven paths through the clear, blue sky. Never quite resolving into coherent designs.

Ahead; the massed ranks of the gathered faithful, held back at the squares edge by the bruisers, awaiting their leaders defiant facing down of the approaching armoured column.

Inside; the leading stormhammer tank, the gunners ignore the placards and chants beseeching them to throw off their shackles and join with the rebels. "The prophet has risen; The apocalypse is here; Judgement upon the non-believers". Staying true to the imperial cause they wait, crouched over the gun sights, for commands.

The moment passes.

"Cannonball is amongst us, smite the unbelievers with his righteous fury" screamed the defiant rebel leader as the tanks bore down upon him. His followers surge forward repeating his call. Not likely thought Colonel Heinrich Howitzer as the be-fezzed rebel leader disappeared under the track of his Stormhammer command tank. The Arch heretic Cannonball had long been driven from this world, too cowardly to face the might of the colonels armoured brigade, and even now the assassins still stalked him as he fled across the stars.
"All tanks fire at will" ordered the Colonel over the command vox caster.
The final cleansing had begun.

Imperial Front returns to Arc for yet another year. The rules will be pretty much the same as last year.

  • The double movement for all vehicles will be used again. It will just be implemented slightly differently for clarity. This will be explained on the day.
  • This game will be played using the standard 40K rules set with the additional superheavy and flier rules from the imperial armour series of books. Please bring a copy of the rules with you if you intend to be using superheavies or fliers.
  • We will be using a six foot wide table with enough length for each player to have a two foot wide deployment zone.
  • There will be three strategic points to capture with each one having an enhancing effect on your tanks abilities while your side controls them.
  • 1200pt armies will be used chosen from a single codex (a points reduction this year because I have been told by a number of people that they wanted to play but couldn't get to the higher points value)
  • No force organisation charts will be used and more than one detachment is allowed.
  • This is a tank versus tank game so;
    • No infantry units
    • No bikes
    • No skimmers (they just break the system, I am play testing some ideas for 2009 so there is still hope)
  • Please note walkers are again allowed to be fielded this year.
  • No off board support (i.e. artillery strikes, orbital bombardments etc). In short, if you want to use it, it has to be a model that the enemy can get to.
  • Fliers allowed. (From the Imperial armour series of books)
  • Superheavy tanks allowed. (From the Imperial armour series of books)
  • Vehicles from the Imperial Armour series of books are allowed provided the army you are using is allowed to take them. (No chaos vehicles in imperial armies for example). You must bring a copy of its stats, points cost and any special rules to the table.
  • Any Titans will be using the rules and points costs from IA 2005 update. (I believe it's the most recent release for them)
  • Transport vehicles may be used without infantry squads. (Just buy them for their standard points cost plus any upgrades)
  • Every model must be fully assembled and painted.

Vehicle Design Rules

VDR will be allowed on a case by case basis. Complete stats, all points calculations and photos showing your vehicle must be sent to the organiser no later than the 1st of January for approval. Be aware that any VDR vehicle must be fully assembled, painted and have all equipment and weapons fully modelled in a representative manner. No exceptions.

I am not looking to see super vehicles of doom, but well modelled vehicles that exist in the 40K universe that GW have not yet seen fit to produce. Sending supporting documentation that shows your vehicle exists in the 40K universe and its weapons fit will improve your chances of being able to use it.

Apocalypse Rules:

We will not be using the rules found in Apocalypse this year, nor the points cost or data faxes for the vehicles/fliers contained in that book. If you want to field a vehicle whose stats and cost is only found in this book contact me to discuss it.

Awards

Winning team

This year every one on the winning side will be given a small prize, what it will be is still being decided.

Awarded to the player on each team who achieves the most success for his side. This will be judged on objectives taken and held, enemy tanks destroyed and table area captured.

The game will be held after the final 40K round during the Saturday night session at the con. Assemble at the 40K tournament briefing area and you will be directed to the room that we will be playing in.
