Arcanacon 40K is Australias largest Warhammer 40,000 competition. Come along for a rocking weekend of 40K, death metal and beer! This event is part of Games Workshop's National Tournament System.

Tournament Rules

  • 4th edition Warhammer 40,000 rules, plus all Codices and Chapter Approved rules variations (except where exempted below).
  • Please bring a 1,200 point army, plus a model to represent a bio-weapon.
  • All miniatures MUST BE PAINTED. Unpainted miniatures CANNOT be fielded.
  • Army Rosters must be submitted by 16 January 2006 via email or post. Late rosters will be penalised. Your roster must include your name, army type, percentage per category, and full points calculations. Please see website for an example roster.
  • Please bring an additional copy of your Army Roster on the day to show your opponent, plus your army background to hand in with your name included.
  • The following may be taken: Allies as specified in Codex Daemonhunters, Codex Witch Hunters & Codex Eye of Terror; Minor Psychic Powers; Vehicles from Imperial Armour (no superheavies); Stealer Cult armies (from Journal); Chapter Approved Recommended rules. Drop Pods may be taken but MUST be modelled.
  • The following may NOT be taken: special characters; Monstrous allies from Chapter Approved: Creature Feature (WD292); Tyranid Seeding Swarms; Tyranid Mycetic Spores; Vehicle Design Rules; Chapter Approved Optional or Trial rules.
  • Players will fight SIX battles each of 3 hours duration, at 10:00am, 1:00pm and 4:00pm each day on SATURDAY 28 JANUARY and SUNDAY 29 JANUARY.
  • Players will receive points for each battle for Generalship and Sportsmanship, and will receive an overall mark for Army Painting and Army Selection. Full judging criteria will be available on the website below.
  • Players are encouraged to bring terrain if you can provide a 6x4 table of quality terrain, please contact the organiser. There will be a Best Table prize (player vote) and a Random Table prize (raffle draw).

Registrations

  • There are 120 places. We expect the competition to fill quickly.
  • To reserve your place, book on the AON system online, and pay on the day.
  • Registrations open at 8:30am on the Saturday. You can also register on Friday.
  • You must be at the venue and registered by 9:30am sharp on Saturday. Latecomers will forfeit their place. If there are extenuating circumstances, you must contact 0411 238-427 before 9:30am.
  • If the event books out in advance, there are two ways you might still get to play:
    • Emergency List: Contract the organiser to be placed on the emergency list. We will contact you if a place becomes available.
    • Last Chance: Unregistered players on the emergency list are welcome to come on the day. Be ready to play with a painted 1200 point army with an Army Roster and Army Background. If any places are forfeited at the 9:30am cut-off, spare places will be allocated on the order on the emergency list. If you dont get a place, you will receive a free visitors pass and a raffle ticket, and will have access to any spare gaming tables.

Wargamer AU Mission Design Competition

  • Registered players are invited to enter the Mission Design Competition
  • Missions should have a clear victory condition that does not use Victory Points
  • Entries must be received via post or email by 31 December 2005.
  • The organisers reserve the right to edit the winning entry for play balance

The Weekend

  • Set-up will be Thursday 26 January (Australia Day public holiday) from 2pm.
  • Volunteer help during set-up is much appreciated, please contact the organisers if you can assist. Volunteers will receive three tickets to the Helpful Mofo raffle.
  • On Friday we will have Longest Table battles.
  • On Saturday night, stick around for the famous Arcanacon barbie, followed by open gaming (Cannonball Cup) and Imperial Front III.
  • If there is sufficient interest, there will be Dawn of War LAN gaming on Saturday night. You must bring your own PC, monitor and copy of Dawn of War. Please contact the organiser if you would like to take part.
  • The Hobby Phase will have a trade stand (www.thehobbyphase.com.au)
  • If you have stuff to sell, bring it along for Secondhand Sunday.
