WARHAMMER 40K TOURNAMENT
Organised by Mark Morrison & War All The Time
A sanctioned Rogue Trader event
&Sponsored by Games Workshop
Melbourne's biggest 40K tournament is back! As per previous years, we'll have some laffs, listen to some fine death metal sounds and make some WAR! We play all day Saturday and Sunday, and on Saturday night all are welcome to kick back at the venue and play some social games.
The tournament will use Rogue Trader method of scoring. The system covers the whole hobby: Game Play, Sportsmanship, Army Painting & Army Selection.
All players who pre-register by 24 January are guaranteed a place. Signing up on the day is possible, but subject to availability of tables and terrain. If you enter on 'Get Wrecked', please also mark '40K' on your entry form so we know you are playing and can hold a place for you.

BASIC RULES
- 3rd edition Warhammer 40,000 rules, plus all Codices and Chapter Approved Recommended and Recommended Optional lists and rules variations published up until 24 January, 2003.
- Bring along a 1,200 point army, and two copies of your army list - one for the organiser, and the other to show to your opponent before each battle commences. Please write the number of total models and break point (25% of models). Lists cannot be changed during the tournament.
- The Standard Missions organisation chart will be used. Only one detachment is allowed.
- No allies or special characters may be taken.
- All miniatures must be painted, and identifiable as the troop they represent. We want every battle to look great. If it is not painted, you cannot field it.
- Don't forget to bring a tape measure, dice, rulebook, codex, templates & any special rules.
- Players will fight SIX battles each of 3 hours duration, at 9:00am, 1:00pm and 4:00pm each day on SATURDAY 25 JANUARY and SUNDAY 26 JANUARY. Please arrive at 8:45am on the Saturday for registration and briefing.
- Six different missions will be fought over the weekend. If you miss a round, it counts as a loss.
- The revised assault rules (WD 273) will be used. Copies will be available at the tournament.
- Army Break Point rule (WD229) will not determine victory unless specified in the mission.
- Voluntarily Fall Back will not be used, nor will any other House Rule. No Journal rules.
- The following may not be taken: Space Marine Drop Pod armies; Tyranid Seeding Swarms; Tyranid Mutable Genus; Vehicle Design Rules; any Chapter Approved Optional or Trial rules.
- The following may be taken: Minor Psychic Powers; Vehicles from Imperial Armour 1 and 2 (but no superheavies); and Stealer Cult armies (from Journal). If in doubt, please ask first!
- Players will receive points for each battle for Generalship and Sportsmanship, and will receive an overall mark for Army Painting and Army Selection. The overall winner will be the player with the most points at the end of the six games. Other prizes will also be awarded.
GENERALSHIP (0-120 POINTS)
Each player will receive points for each battle. These are as follows:
- Win game = 15 points. Draw game = 11 points. Lose game = 7 points.
- +1 if you reduced the opposing army to its break point (25% models or less remaining).
- +1 if the enemy commander is dead, falling back or off the table
- +1 if the enemy unit (not character) with the highest points value is dead, falling back or off the table
- +1 if you have units in the opponent's deployment zone at the end of the game
- +1 if there are no enemy units in your deployment zone at the end of the game
- -1 if no enemy unit has been reduced to half strength or less, or falling back or off the table
- -1 if your army includes less Troop models in total than Elite, Fast Attack and Heavy Support models in total (i.e. when added together). Vehicles and models riding bikes etc. count as a single model.
- -1 if you have no units outside of your own deployment zone at the end of the game
- -1 if your army includes more than 3 'armoured' vehicles (i.e. at least one armour value of 11 or more). You are permitted one transport vehicle that does not contribute towards this count.
- -1 at the organiser's discretion, e.g. arguing after a decision, late for a game, spitting, etc.
SPORTSMANSHIP (0 - 120 POINTS)
Each player will rank their opponents from each day's play from
1st to
3rd in two categories:
\begin{enumerate}
Sportsmanship. Who was your best opponent? i.e. Who would you most like to play again?
Army. Which opponent had the fairest army? i.e. A balanced force, and not at all cheesy?
\end{enumerate}
PAINTING (0-30 POINTS)
Each army will receive an overall points award based on how well it is painted. Judging will include:
- Was there effort put into painting the army?
- Is the army based in a pleasing fashion?
- Does the army have a theme/background to it?
- Does the army have insignia, camo schemes or eye-catching items?
SELECTION (0-30 POINTS)
Each army will receive an overall points award based on the selection. Judging will include:
- Does the army have more Troop choices than any other category?
- Are there more than 2 squads at maximum size?
- Has the player spent less than 10% of their total points on wargear?
- Is the army list correct?
