A leaf drifts down from a wild cherry tree, and lands in the water of a gently flowing stream. It is carried over a small waterfall, which reflects the red-orange light of a burning castle. It floats further along the shallow stream, but is then trampled into the streambed by the feet of something not human. The inhuman thing shifts the struggling bundle on its back, and gestures to its companions who follow it upstream, muddying the water as they go.
Some time later the leaf is pried from the streambed, and a handsome man
with very old eyes examines it.
"They went upstream," he says, peering into the darkness. "I can see their
tracks even in this darkness, but we must hurry."
He and his four companions remount their horses, and continue in pursuit of
the abducted Emperor.
Night on the Island of Shikoku, at the end of the typhoon season.
A 1 session systemless game for Five Samurai pursuing the abductors of their child Emperor into the night. Following on from the events of "In the Eyes of Heaven" and "Heart of the Typhoon" (It is not necessary to have played the previous games)
