Settlers of Catan is a boardgame for a minimum of three players, to a maximum of six players. Each player controls a group of colonists who, through various means such as appropriation of resources, or by trading resources with other players, builds their colony up. Obstacles to avoid along the way are the robber, and some resources which tend to be scarcer than others.
Throughout all this, the player that reaches the set number of points
wins the game
and becomes the "Lord
of all Catan."
This tournament will take up two sessions, where a total of three games will be played. Standard Settler of Catan rules will be in place, and the first game will be the "standard" board setup to allow new players to get used to the game.
The second game will be a random board setup, and the final will include the highest scoring players from the first and second games, and, if all players agree, may end up being a "Seafarers of Catan" setup. Players not making the final are welcome to continue playing if they wish.
If you have never played the game before, the rules will be explained by everyone else present, and you'll be guaranteed to have a good playing experience. And who knows, by the end of it all, you'll be wanting to buy your own copy of the game.
